MOTOR ON!

Are you a motor yacht fancier? Is yours a motor yacht? Tell us all about it!

You either love them or you hate them. This page is for those who love them.
Motor yacht stern-to in Nelson's Dockyard Tell us all about your boat, or the boat you'd love to own. Tell us about places you've been, things you've seen while the sailing mob were still three days (at least) behind you! If you care to send pictures, so much the better... if yours is a mega-yacht, it will probably end up on our Gosh How Posh page but don't be shy - a twenty-foot motor yacht is still a motor yacht and we're interested in them all.

We couldn't resist a picture of the handsome beast above, moored outside Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua, in the West Indies, as we admired the view from our aft deck. Unfortunately, we can't put a name to the vessel, but perhaps someone will recognise her and let us know...meanwhile...

Cap'n 'Robbie' would like to know:

With the advent of several inventors bringing the concept of marine electrical motors from fantasy to fact, is anyone aware of a manufacturer with electrically powered boats on the market? If so, are the motors inboard or outboard? What horsepower? Up to what weight and length of vessel? What range?
Is anyone building a vessel which incorporates a pair electrical motors and a pair of generator sets?

Before anyone leaps up shouting that this would defeat the object, we would like to say that for an ocean-going sailor to rely on existing alternative energy technology and nature providing the required elements as desired, in sufficient quantities, is to deny reality and, furthermore, a generator set, whilst still burning fossil fuels, burns far less fuel than an engine...

Any feedback available?
If you'd like to try your hand as a reporter, don't worry about whether you are a fancy writer or not, you can tell us what you want to and we'll sort out the editing at this end.
Got a story to tell? We'd love to hear all about the motor yachts in your life and see pictures too if you have any...
Tell us all about your own motor yacht or one you've enjoyed. What kind of engine, or engines, does it have?
We'd love to hear what you think about anything and everything to do with motor yachts.
If you've got a good story to tell, funny or tragic, we'd like to hear that too.
At least tell us about you and what you'd like to see here and we'll do our best to accommodate you on this page.
