Keith 'Robbie' Robinson, Executive Editor,  welcomes you to the first issue of MarineZine...

Hello There! Or should that be Ahoy!?

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the opening edition of MarineZine and to express the hope that you will enjoy perusing this first issue at least as much as we've enjoyed putting it together.

We like to think that a browse through MarineZine will inspire you to become a regular reader. More than that, I hope you will be inspired to add your news, views, ideas and true stories to our melting pot and become an active regular participant in this exciting first in the global online magazine field.

Tell us what you think of the magazine so far, what you like and what you don't. Make suggestions, share your knowledge and experience with us.

Enjoy writing creatively? Your contributions on any of the huge range of topics we cover will be warmly welcomed.
There are also various opportunities to show the world what you can do as a biographer, short story writer and 'raconteur', amongst which Portrait Of A Sailor, The Boatman and Spin Us A Yarn  should provide some possibilities for adults and Story Time for children, amongst many, many others.

Fancy yourself as a reporter? Try your hand at it for the first time or bring your rusty reporting skills out of premature retirement and show the new hands just what an old hack can do. Coastal Communities, Recent Events and Breaking News spring to mind offhand but there are plenty of other sections where your talents will find a place to shine. With a bit of luck, one of these days, when we've sold enough advertising to pay off the start-up costs, we can offer to pay for the efforts of those writers who are proving popular (and reward ourselves for our own efforts, come to that!).

It will be those who've helped to build the magazine up with us in these early days to whom we're most likely to offer rewards when we're in a position to do so.
Already, kind people who have watched the magazine start to take shape, have e-mailed us snippets of news and information, given us permission to publish their work and  helped out in many other ways. We'd love you to become part of the 'team', whatever you feel you can contribute - a joke (keep it clean if you want to see it published...), a true story, an opinion, a question for someone else to answer, a word of encouragement, an idea, whatever.

With your help, over the years, MarineZine can become one of the most useful sources of instantly accessible mariners knowledge, written in simple and understandable terms, anywhere on the planet. We also hope it will be fun to read and to write for.
We will be monitoring the popularity, or otherwise, of different features and expanding or contracting sections to reflect what you, the readers, want to see on these pages.

All you have to do, to tell us what you think, or share a story with us, is send an e-mail to MarineZine_editor@linnetwoods.com - you'll find the e-mail address on every page.

Thank you for browsing MarineZine. We hope there'll be something from you in the second issue... Enjoy!
